Our Story
What began in 2013 as Misti and Colin’s 1-year newlywed adventure to Mexico, became something neither of us could have imagined.
Misti and Colin left the US expecting Mexico to be a quick chapter of their story. More than a decade later, it is home and the place where Bohemia Wedding Travel was born.
From the beginning, our company has been rooted in firsthand experience. We live here, work here, know the resorts, understand the destination wedding industry from the inside, and have spent years building relationships with the resorts and professionals who make these celebrations possible.
One of the most important people in that story is Evelina. Originally from Latvia, Evelina joined our team nearly from the beginning and brings more than 20 years of destination wedding experience in Mexico. Her knowledge of the resorts, the wedding industry, and destination itself has been an invaluable part of Bohemia's growth.
Today, Bohemia Wedding Travel is a team of 6 dedicated wedding professionals, each with experience in Mexico's resort and destination wedding industry. Although our backgrounds span from the United States to Latvia and beyond, we share the same goal: making destination wedding planning feel easier, more personal, and far less overwhelming.
Over the years, Bohemia Wedding Travel has been recognized as a top group seller for Mexico with Classic Vacations, the #1 seller for Hyatt Inclusive Collection, and the #2 seller for Tafer Resorts. We are proud recipients of the WorldVia Ascension Award, Monarch Agency of Excellence Award, serve as ambassadors and board members of the Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialists Association, and are members of Travel A.L.L.I.E.S.
Those recognitions mean a great deal to us. But what matters most is what they represent: years of experience, relationships, advocacy, and a team that genuinely cares about every wedding entrusted to us.
Meet the Founders
Meet Misti
Misti's path to destination weddings Was never conventional, which is probably why Bohemia Wedding Travel isn't either.
With a background in hospitality interior design, she first entered the wedding world as a photographer. That experience gave her an unusually intimate look at weddings from both sides of the camera: how a space photographs, how an event flows, what couples remember, and which details actually make a difference.
After marrying Colin and moving to Mexico in 2013, that creative background evolved into an obsession with resorts, venues, and destination weddings. Misti began traveling extensively throughout Mexico, personally visiting and staying at resorts, developing relationships within the industry, and building the firsthand knowledge that would eventually become the foundation of the company.
Today, she is recognized as one of the Top 55 Female Travel Leaders in the industry and has been invited to speak and educate new and aspiring destination wedding professionals. She also serves as an ambassador and board member of the Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialists Association.
Misti loves discovering the resort nobody is talking about yet, finding the venue that feels completely different from everything a couple has already seen, and helping someone go from “I’m overwhelmed and have no idea where to start” to “Yay, this is exactly what we were looking for.”
She believes couples deserve honest advice, including being told when a resort isn't the right fit- and that expertise should make decision making simpler for their couples.
Outside of weddings, Misti is happiest traveling, perfume collecting, designing spaces, discovering beautiful hotels, finding an excellent pastry, spending time with animals, and avoiding shoes whenever socially acceptable.
Meet Colin
Colin has been part of Bohemia's story since before there was a Bohemia.
As co-founder of Bohemia Wedding Travel, Colin has helped grow the company from its earliest days into the team it is today. Along the way, he has developed years of experience working within Mexico's resort and group travel industry and building relationships with the partners who make our clients' experiences possible.
One of Colin's favorite parts of the job is filming the resorts we visit and finding ways to show couples what a destination can actually feel like. Through video, he helps couples visualize the beaches, venues, architecture, and atmosphere of each property and imagine what their own wedding could look like there long before they ever arrive.
For Colin, the motivation behind Bohemia has always been bigger than simply booking travel. It's about building a company people can trust, creating long-term relationships, and giving couples the confidence of knowing there is an experienced team behind them from the first resort search through the moment their guests arrive in Mexico.
More than a decade after what was supposed to be a small adventure, Mexico is home and helping people experience this part of the world in an unforgettable way is still one of the best parts of the job.
The Bohemia Team is joined by the lovely Maricela, Ana and Olga, an integral part of our success.
They all bring various experiences and important connections from wedding planning backgrounds to resort sales offices across Mexico.
